Decisions, decisions. Fantasy draft day is full of choices we have to make, and it’s often most challenging when we have two guys on our draft board with similar projections and ADPs. Which player should you draft? Here’s some thoughts on five common draft-day dilemmas and which direction you should go.
Drew Brees vs. Ben Roethlisberger
The first four quarterbacks off the board are fairly predictable this year. Cam Newton is the consensus No. 1, and then some combination of Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck come off the board. After that point, fantasy drafters are typically choosing between Brees and Roethlisberger, with both players going in the sixth round.
Brees has been a model of fantasy consistency over the last decade. He’s topped the 30-touchdown mark in each of his last eight seasons, and has gone past 5,000 yards four times during that span. He had arguably his most impressive season last year, throwing for 4,870 yards and 32 scores despite an early-season shoulder injury and a lackluster surrounding cast. The Saints upgraded their talent pool in the offseason, and Brees remains in the wheelhouse of his career despite getting up there in age.
