Chiefs trade up, select QB Patrick Mahomes at 10th overall

The Kansas City Chiefs traded up to select Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes with the 10th selection in the draft Thursday.
With a clean pocket, Mahomes posted an accuracy percentage of 82.9 percent, second-best among draft-eligible QBs.
Despite seeing pressure on 36.5 percent of his dropbacks (eighth-highest in the class), Mahomes was sacked on just 10.2 percent of those plays (third-lowest).
Among QBs in this draft class, Mahomes threw for the most yards (1,281) and fourth-most TD (15) on deep passes last season.
Just 347 of Alex Smith’s passing yards came on passes 20-plus yards downfield in 2016.
In college, Mahomes threw for 1,281 yards on passes 20-plus yards downfield, the most of any QB in this draft class.
