- Adam Schefter reports New Orleans Saints DT Nick Fairley will be placed on the reserve/NFI list and is expected to miss the entire 2017 season. Fairley was diagnosed with a severe heart condition earlier in the offseason. Fairley signed a four-year, $28M contract in March prior to being diagnosed.
- In 2016, Fairley earned the lowest grade of his career at 76.9 but still ranked 34th out of 127 eligible defensive interior players. He played a career-high 723 snaps and played in all 16 games for the first time in his career.
- Fairley was very effective as a pass rusher in 2016. His pass rush grade of 77.6 ranked 13th among interior defenders and his pass-rush productivity of 8.1 ranked seventh out of 68 interior defenders with at least 140 pass rush snaps. He produced 47 total pressures.
