CB Tavon Young tore his ACL in his practice today after intercepting a pass and bumping into a teammate.
Young started eleven games on the outside after opening the first five games of the 2016 campaign in a rotational role working against the slot. The challenge didn’t prove too big for him, and he ended the season with a 79.8 coverage grade, the best of all Ravens corners. His performance in the 2016 season earned Young an honorable mention on PFF’s best players under 25 at every defensive position list.
Young led all Ravens corners in passes broken up (six), tackles (48) and stops (25 – solo tackles that lead to an offensive failure) while also picking up both a fumble recovery and a blocked extra point which he returned for a score.
Young surrendered only 0.98 yards per cover snap last season, which was second among the league’s rookie cornerbacks. His overall grade of 80.3 ranked him the third highest rookie cornerback.
