Jaguars confident in QB Blake Bortles entering 2017?

2016 was a season that can only be seen as a huge step backwards for Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles. Despite this, the Jaguars did not add any quarterback competition in the offseason and appear ready to head into 2017 with Bortles, veteran Chad Henne and 2016 sixth-rounder Brandon Allen comprising their depth chart.
Bortles had been heading in the right direction in his second season in 2015, earning a PFF grade of 80.3 overall before crashing down to a grade of 52.9 last season.
After leading the league in deep passing yardage in 2015, his deep passing statistics were a big reason for his demise in 2016 as he had the second least number of yards among qualifying passers from passes targeted 20-plus yards downfield, driven by his league worst deep passing accuracy of 23.5 percent.
While undoubtedly a risky proposition, Tom Coughlin is confident that Bortles can correct his passing mechanics and get back to his 2015 heights for a young and talented Jaguars team that will need much improved quarterback play in order to move up in the standings.
