- On Thursday evening, free agent edge defender Dwight Freeney told SiriusXM NFL Radio that he has been in communication with the Falcons and “they say they’re still very interested.”
- In 2016, Freeney finished second on the Falcons with 63 total pressures — the most he has registered since 2010, when he posted 75 with the Colts.
- The 15-year veteran was used almost exclusively as a pass-rusher last season, spending 84.0 percent of his snaps rushing the passer. In doing so, Freeney earned an overall grade of 78.3 ranking him tied for 39th among edge defenders.
- During the playoffs, Freeney had the most pressures of all defenders with 17, including 8 in the Super Bowl. He finished with the fourth-best overall grade (84.1) in the game against the Patriots.
