- Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is focused on becoming a “more dominant second-level runner” this offseason, according to Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News.
- Few running backs had an easier time getting to the second level last season than Elliott, as he averaged 2.16 yards before contact behind one of the best run-blocking offensive lines in football. That number ranked sixth among 42 running backs with at least 100 carries.
- However, Elliott’s 32.5 elusive rating on run plays, which factors in missed tackles forced and yards after contact, actually ranked below league average (34.7) last season.
- The idea of Elliott, who still led the league in rushing by more than 300 yards, becoming a more elusive runner in his sophomore campaign is a truly terrifying one for opposing defenses.
