- As reported by Aaron Wilson via Twitter, Houston Texans LB Brian Cushing is on track to be ready for training camp. Cushing has been sitting out of OTAs and minicamp after a clean-up operation on his shoulder but should be full go come August.
- Cushing’s overall PFF grade of 78.5 last season was his highest in three seasons, ranking 31st out of 87 qualifying linebackers. This comes after back to back seasons of poor grades, producing overall grades of 47.1 (2014) and 46.9 (2015).
- Cushing showed he was one of the best coverage linebackers last season, ranking 16th with a coverage grade of 82.3. He also led the all inside linebackers in yards per cover snap (0.37), cover snap per reception (22.7) and cover snaps per target (17.0).
- With a run-stop percentage of 11.5 last season, Cushing ranked fifth out of 60 qualifying linebackers, amassing 28 run stops on 244 run snaps (a stop is anything that constitutes a “loss” for the offense).
