- With head coach Doug Marrone yet to get in contact with Branden Albert, the Jaguars have been using second-round draft pick Cam Robinson exclusively at left tackle during their rookie camp.
- Albert was traded to the team earlier this offseason and is projected to be the team's starter at left tackle, but is currently in the middle of a holdout.
- Despite Albert coming off a season where he was hampered by injuries and posting a career-low PFF grade of 42.2 in 2016, recent history suggests he may be a safer option than Robinson playing as a rookie.
- In the last three seasons, seven players as rookies played more than 550 snaps at left tackle, and the results were hit and miss. Two of the seven (Taylor Decker and Ronnie Stanley) posted PFF grades above 80, but the other five all ranked among the bottom 10 eligible tackles in their respective seasons.
- While Robinson projects as the Jaguars left tackle of the future, taking notes from Albert's former team, the Miami Dolphins, and how they handled Laremy Tunsil's rookie campaign might be their safest alternative for 2017.
Albert's holdout could lead to Robinson starting for Jaguars
