- Marcus Gilchrist ranked 53rd among 90 qualified safeties last season with an overall grade of 77.1. Gilchrist has been fairly consistent over the past four years, earning overall grades in the 70's each season, with a career high 79.1 overall grade in 2015.
- Gilchrist wasn’t a liability in run defense in 2016, but he wasn’t much of a playmaker either as he recorded three stops in run defense but he also missed three tackles and his 2.3 run stop percentage ranked 75th out of 87 qualified safeties.
- He missed a few tackles in run defense last season but he was nearly perfect, as a tackler, in the passing game. Gilchrist missed just one tackle in pass defense last year and his 27.0 tackle efficiency rating (total number of attempted tackles made per each missed tackle) ranked 11th among 108 qualified safeties.
- While Gilchrist wasn’t spectacular in coverage last season, he wasn’t necessarily poor either. Gilchrist ranked 29th out of 92 safeties by allowing one catch per every 28 times he was in coverage, and he ranked 52nd by allowing 0.6 yards per coverage snap.
