In 2022, he followed his former run game coordinator Mike McDaniel to the Miami Dolphins, where he beat out Chase Edmonds for the starting job while averaging 4.9 yards per attempt. In 2023 at age 31, he received more carries per game despite De’Von Achane‘s presence, was more efficient rushing the ball and broke more big gains. This made him one of the most effective running backs in the league. His fantasy value mostly blew out of control with 18 rushing touchdowns, compared to 14 in all of his other seasons combined.

Mostert is now 32 years old, making him the oldest fantasy-relevant running back by over two years. He also has only 674 career carries and 92 career receptions. In contrast, Ezekiel Elliott is three years younger but has 2,065 career carries and 356 career receptions. Mostert has dealt with plenty of injuries during his career, but he also hasn’t gotten tackled nearly as much as other older running backs.

Mostert was RB5 last season, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he plays more like 2022 thanks to some touchdown regression and the possibility of fewer snaps and goal-line snaps. He has a history of injuries and age working against him, but that is all baked into his RB24 ADP. He should still be a fantasy starter most weeks when healthy, and if he can beat the odds and keep scoring touchdowns, he will be a steal at his ADP. It would be good to have a backup plan if drafting Mostert.
