Downs had a relatively quiet first month in the NFL, but he shined in October. He caught at least five passes in four straight games and was WR11 during that stretch, scoring more fantasy points than Michael Pittman Jr.

Downs played only 3% of offensive snaps in two-receiver sets last season, with Pierce and Pittman taking nearly all of those snaps. Both McKenzie and D.J. Montgomery also played around 3% of those situations, so there was no clear third receiver in those sets. It seems less likely Downs will play significant snaps in those two-receiver sets this year, given the arrival of Mitchell. Typically, wide receivers who only line up in the slot aren’t great options for fantasy. That’s largely because they don't run enough routes each game to consistently compete with dozens of other wide receivers who do.

Downs is a slot-only receiver in a run-first offense, making it difficult for him to have consistent fantasy value. However, he could be an exception based on his strong performance in October before his injury and the team's frequent use of 11 personnel.
