Greg Roman's history as an offensive coordinator reveals a consistent pattern in how he distributes targets across different positions. His tight ends have constantly ranked higher in targets relative to other teams compared to where his teams wide receivers and running backs have ranked.
•
While not “perfect,” Hayden Hurst‘s preseason usage indicated that he is clearly positioned as the top receiving tight end on the roster. Over the first four drives, Hurst took four of the six snaps in 11 personnel, including all three pass plays, and half of the snaps in 12 personnel, including two of the three pass plays. While Will Dissly will play a significant role due to his elite run-blocking skills, Donald Parham appears to be lower on the depth chart.
•
Hurst has a chance to lead the Chargers in targets and should at least finish in the top three. That might not be enough for him to finish in the top 12 at the position, but when you compare him to other tight ends drafting in this range in deeper leagues, his odds are much better than others.
