He has remained great as a receiver, ranking among the best in the league this past season in target rate (32%). He caught 77 passes last season, the second most in the league despite his being suspended for three games and missing one other. That was 10 more receptions than third place. Kamara isn’t doing nearly as much with the ball in his hands as in his first few years in the league, but volume is what matters for fantasy football.

The Saints' offensive line will undergo some changes this season, which might not be for the best. Right tackle Ryan Ramczyk has been one of the team's top two run-blockers for the past seven seasons, but he is out for the season after having offseason knee surgery. Former first-round pick Trevor Penning was supposed to compete with rookie first-round pick Taliese Fuaga for the left tackle job, but now both players will be forced into the starting lineup.

Volume is by far the most important aspect of running back performance in fantasy football. Often, the top running backs get a lot of volume, but this is a case where an inefficient running back is seeing a lot of volume, leading to elite fantasy production. The change in offensive coordinator, the possibility of the backup running backs having a bigger role and the fact that Kamara just turned 29 are all working against him, which could lead to anything from a minor decrease in volume to a major one.
