- Lost in Tennessee’s dramatic loss was RB John Kelly’s dominant effort in which he forced 15 missed tackles (11 as a rusher, four as a receiver). Kelly finished with an outstanding 92.3 overall grade against Florida and he has emerged as one of the nation’s top running backs in the early going this season.
- Through three weeks, Kelly’s 20 forced missed tackles on the ground rank second in the nation behind only Iowa State’s David Montgomery and he’s tied with Montgomery with eight forced misses as a receiver, also good enough for second.
- Kelly now ranks fourth in the nation with an elusive rating of 167.7. His fast start should come as no surprise as he’d forced 42 missed tackles on his 138 career attempts coming into the season, an incredible rate of forcing a miss every 3.3 attempts. Expect his angry running style to garner more hype in NFL draft circles as he makes a move up draft boards.
