- Reports out of Kansas City have wide receiver Tyreek Hill giving up kickoff return duties for 2017, with his lone special teams role being the returning of punts.
- Hill was electrifying in all aspects of the game a season ago, and when given a chance to return 18 kickoffs he responded with a 25.6 return yard average and an 86-yard touchdown on a free kick return at Denver. He also had a 105-yard kickoff return at Houston nullified by penalty.
- In Hill’s place in 2017 will likely be 2014 fourth-round selection De’Anthony Thomas, whose work as a returner and gadget player was limited in 2016 due to redundancy with Hill.
- While not as electric as Hill, Thomas has been a plus returner in the past, finishing 2014 as our third-highest graded return specialist (10th as a kickoff returner) and chipping in three kickoff returns of more than 30 yards when given a chance a season ago.
