  • The Washington Redskins have signed veteran DI Arthur Jones, according to the team’s official Twitter account. Head coach Jay Gruden has told reporters that he’ll be able to “slide right in” to the defensive line rotation, as Jones spent three years of his career playing for defensive coordinator Greg Manusky.
  • Jones, a former fifth-round pick of the 2010 NFL draft, will be entering his eighth year in the league. His best year as a pro came in 2013, where his PFF overall grade of 80.7 ranked 26th of 116 qualifying interior linemen.
  • That year, Jones was a dominant force both against the run and in the pass-rush. On his 261 snaps against the run, he racked up 26 stops for a run-stop percentage of 10.0 percent, which ranked sixth among 44 qualifying 3-4 defensive ends. In the pass-rush, he tallied 25 total quarterback pressures on his 238 pass-rush snaps, for a pass-rush productivity of 8.4 that ranked 10th.
  • Jones last saw action in the 2016 season, and played a total of 322 snaps. While his pass-rush productivity of 1.3 didn’t quite live up to his previous performances, he was still fairly productive against the run, and ended the season ranked 17th among 3-4 defensive ends with a run-stop percentage of 7.2 percent.
