Six weeks into the NFL season, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski still sits at the top of the leaderboard, as his 80.5 game grade versus the Jets this week was enough to keep him No. 1. Here is a look at the top five currently.
- Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots (88.0 overall grade) – Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Gronkowski’s game is that he has mastered all aspects of the tight end position and currently ranks the top-5 in receiving grade (83.8), run block grade (81.2), and pass block grade (74.4). His league leading 2.39 yards per route run isn’t too shabby either.
- Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs (86.3) — Kelce does almost all of his damage as a receiver, currently leading tight ends in receiving grade at 87.2 and ranking fifth in yards per route run at 1.98.
- Delanie Walker, Tennessee Titans (85.1) – Walker has shown some sure hands this season and currently owns a perfect drop rate, not dropping a single pass on 34 targets. He has also graded very well as a run-blocker, with the No. 6 run-block grade of 81.5.
- Hunter Henry, Los Angeles Chargers (84.6) — Henry is enjoying a breakout campaign as one of the league’s most promising up-and-coming tight ends. This season he has produced the sixth-most yards per route run at 1.98.
- Cameron Brate, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (84.3) – Brate has entrenched himself as a fantastic mismatch option in the Buccaneers offense and has the third-highest receiving grade to show for it at 84.2.
