Titans CB Brice McCain expected to return to nickel duties

ESPN.com writer Paul Kuharsky recently stated that Tennessee Titans cornerback Brice McCain has the upper-hand for the team’s nickelback job.

  • McCain lined up as a slot defender for a league-high 518 coverage snaps with the Titans last season.
  • As a slot defender, he allowed 45-of-69 passes to be completed for 477 yards, six touchdowns and one interception.
  • Quarterbacks targeting a receiver in McCain’s slot coverage averaged a passer rating of 104.6, the seventh-highest in the league.
  • New Titans cornerback Logan Ryan played 309 snaps in slot coverage with the New England Patriots last season while LeShaun Sims played six during his rookie season. Rookie cornerback Adoree´ Jackson played just five snaps in slot coverage at the University of Southern California last season.
