- The New York Giants announced Wednesday that cornerback Janoris Jenkins has been placed on injured reserve. Jenkins has been dealing with an ankle injury throughout the season that will require surgery to repair.
- After signing with the Giants as a free agent in 2016, Jenkins had a tremendous season, finishing as PFF's eighth-ranked cornerback with an 88.0 overall grade. This year while attempting to play through the injury his grade has slipped to 79.0, ranking 42nd through Week 12.
- Jenkins has allowed 1.40 yards per cover snap this season, which is 90th of 119 qualifying cornerbacks. Last year he ranked 12th with 0.84 yards per cover snap, and was eighth among cornerbacks with 10 passes defensed.
- New York will likely rely on Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Eli Apple, and Ross Cockrell at cornerback for the rest of the year.
