- The Dallas Cowboys have announced that they have released quarterback Kellen Moore. His release comes four days after Cooper Rush took over the backup quarterback duties behind starter Dak Prescott in the team’s Week 7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
- Moore last saw regular season action down the stretch of the 2015 season, where he logged two starts and 171 offensive snaps filling in the injured Tony Romo. In those three games, Moore struggled with accuracy, and posted an adjusted completion percentage of just 69.4 percent, which ranked 27th of 35 quarterbacks with at least 40 dropbacks over that time.
- Moore not only struggled with accuracy during that stretch, he was also underwhelming when throwing under pressure, posting a passer rating of just 19.5 on his 23 pressured pass attempts, the worst mark among the same 35 signal-callers.
- Moore missed the entire 2016 season with a broken leg and entered this year’s training camp as Prescott’s primary backup. However, the same issues continued to plague him during the preseason, and he ended the campaign ranked last among Dallas’ quarterbacks in adjusted completion percentage (66.7 percent), passer rating under pressure (24.7), passer rating on throws of 20 or more yards (81.3) and passer rating when kept clean (91.7)
