- Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle is reporting that the Houston Texans are expected to sign edge defender Lamarr Houston.
- Houston, who has spent the last three seasons with the Chicago Bears, will hope to provide the Texans with some defensive depth following a weekend in which they lost both DE J.J. Watt and linebacker Whitney Mercilus to season-ending knee and pectoral injuries, respectively.
- While with the Bears Houston was no stranger to injury himself, missing 8 games in 2014 and participating in only 31 snaps in 2016 before suffering a season-ending torn ACL in Week 2.
- Throughout his career Houston has consistently performed well against the run, ranking in the top six for his position on four occasions in regard to run-stop percentage.
- In 2015, his last healthy season, Houston was the top-ranked 4-3 defensive end in the league in run-stop percentage at 12.4 percent. In 2013, his 40 run stops led the lead for his position.
- His best season as a pass-rusher came in 2015, when he was predominantly used as an outside linebacker in the Bears 3-4 system, recording a pass-rush productivity (measuring pressure on per-snap basis with weighting toward sacks) of 11.1, the highest rating of his career, ranking 15 among 52 qualifying linebackers.
