- ESPN’s Field Yates has reported that Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson has been placed on I.R. after he suffered a broken leg during the team’s Week 4 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
- Carson, a rookie seventh-round pick, broke out as the Seahawks' leading back in the first four weeks of the season, and had accounted 59.8 percent of the team’s carries so far. Through four weeks, he’s ranked fifth of 57 qualifying running backs with a PFF overall grade of 82.5.
- On his 49 total carries, Carson proved to be one of the more elusive runners in the league, forcing 11 missed tackles and averaging 2.61 yards after contact per attempt, ranking 12th and 21st among 48 running backs with at least 23 attempts, respectively. His elusive rating (the PFF metric that measures a runner’s success beyond the point of being helped by his blockers) of 60.6 currently ranks seventh.
- With Carson out, the Seahawks will move forward with Eddie Lacy and Thomas Rawls as their primary ball carriers, but both have struggled to churn out tough yards the same way Carson has this year. Through four games, Lacy’s average of 1.94 yards after contact per attempt ranks 66th among 88 backs with at least 5 carries, Rawls’ average of 1.20 ranks 87th.
