- When asked about wide receiver Willie Snead’s Week 4 role, New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton was noncommittal, saying “We’ll wait and see how he’s moving around,” before making a decision on his playing time. Snead has just returned from a three-game suspension following an offseason DUI arrest.
- Snead played 743 snaps for the Saints in 2016, and enjoyed a breakout year. He ended the season ranked 16th of 115 qualifying receivers with a PFF overall grade of 84.1.
- In 2016, Snead ran 77.0 percent of his routes from the slot, and he was mightily productive there, racking up the fourth-most yards (707) and the fourth-most yards per route run (1.89) among 25 receivers with at least 265 slot snaps.
- In Snead’s absence, fourth-year receiver Brandon Coleman has taken over slot duties for the team, and has played well so far this season. Through three weeks, Coleman has racked up 91 yards from the slot and averages 1.38 yards per route run, the 11th-best mark among receivers with at least 55 slot snaps.
