S Tre Boston announces he's going to the Chargers

  • Former Carolina Panthers safety Tre Boston announced via Twitter that he is headed to the Los Angeles Chargers. Boston will be joining a group of safeties that includes returning starters Jahleel Addae and Dwight Lowery, along with fourth-round pick Rayshawn Jenkins.
  • Boston earned an overall grade of 78.1 in 2016, while playing a career-high 840 defensive snaps. He finished the season tied for the No. 47 grade among safeties.
  • In coverage, Boston was targeted 27 times, allowing 12 receptions for 178 yards and zero touchdowns. Opposing quarterbacks yielded a passer rating of 35.7 when throwing into Boston’s coverage – the lowest in the league for safeties.
  • Boston allowed the eighth-fewest receiving yards per coverage snap (0.32), and his 46.2 cover snaps per reception ranked sixth among qualified safeties.
