  • Update:  Tannehill's surgery will take place Thursday, according to the Miami Herald. Original story reported on August 6th.
  • Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald has reported that Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill has partially re-torn the same ACL that cost him the last four games of the 2016 season. The injury, that occurred during practice, prompted the signing of free-agent quarterback Jay Cutler, and will require season-ending surgery. Tannehill's surgery is taking place Thursday.
  • Tannehill has graded as “good” or above in every year he’s played. Since 2012, he’s earned PFF overall grades of 82.0, 85.1, 84.0, 81.0 and 80.9. His 2016 grade of 80.9 ranked 16th of 34 qualifying quarterbacks in the NFL.
  • Tannehill’s adjusted completion percentage of 77.4 percent not only ranked sixth among the league’s quarterbacks, but was also the highest mark of his career. His adjusted completion percentage of 47.4% on deep passes (passes that travel 20+ yards in the air) ranked ninth and was also the highest mark of his career.
  • The Dolphins will miss Tannehill, especially in the red zone. Tannehill notched 50 pass attempts in the red zone last season, and produced a passer rating of 120.5 and an adjusted completion percentage of 81.6%, both of which ranked first among the 30 quarterbacks with at least 25 pass attempts in the red zone.
