- Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star Tribune says the Vikings may not have RB Dalvin Cook handling 300 touches ‘although don't rule it out'. The Vikings drafted Cook after signing former Raiders RB Latavius Murray this offseason
- Vensel also writes that in order for Cook to become an every-down back, he will need to be trusted in pass protection. Out of 42 running backs with at least 100 pass blocking snaps last season, Cook ranked 38th in pass blocking efficiency, allowing nine pressures (including two sacks) in 100 pass blocking snaps.
- While his pass blocking may need coaching, his talent as a runner was certainly on display in the 2016 college season. He ranked first in elusive rating (a metric that boils down a runner's success beyond the point of being helped by his blockers) and had 26 runs of 15-plus yards, ranking eighth in the FBS.
