  • Robert Turbin played in less than 30 percent of offensive snaps in 2016 but Zak Keefer of IndyStar Sports reports that he should expect a bigger workload in this upcoming season as Frank Gore’s backup.
  • Despite having fewer attempts than Gore, Turbin led the team in touchdowns (5), and forced missed tackles (8) when rushing outside of the tackles.
  • He did lead the Colts in elusive rating (a runner's success beyond the point of being helped by his blockers) with a 54.1, the highest by a Colts back since 2014.
  • The Colts did draft Marlon Mack out of USF in the fourth round of the 2017 draft but Mack’s pass blocking was not his strongest trait coming out of college. His pass blocking efficiency (measures pressure allowed on a per-snap basis with weighting toward sacks allowed) of 96.9 ranked 21st in the class.
  • On the other hand, Turbin was one of the most efficient pass blockers in the league with a pass blocking efficiency of 97.4 which not only tied for sixth in the league among running backs but also led the Colts team among all players with at least 12 pass blocking snaps.
