- According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell hasn’t committed to attending training camp on time, but intends to play all 16 games of the 2017 season. Bell failed to reach a long-term deal with the Steelers by the deadline, and will play out the 2017 season on the franchise tag.
- Bell is one of the best running backs in the NFL, and in the last two seasons has achieved PFF overall grades of 90.0 and 86.6, ranking first and second in the league, respectively.
- He has consistently been one of the most elusive running backs in the game, and has achieved elusive ratings of 54.8, 69.6, and 54.7 in each of his last three seasons, all ranking in the top 10. Bell has stated that he feels he should be “valued as a player, not so much my position.” Bell is referring to his extensive role in the Steelers passing game. In 2016, Bell’s 89 targets were the second-most among all Steelers players, and he ended the season averaging 1.58 yards per route run, ranking eighth of 43 backs with at least 25 targets.
