- According to Field Yates, the Baltimore Ravens and CB Jimmy Smith have agreed to restructure Smith’s contract creating $5.15M in cap space. Smith signed a contract extension with the Ravens back in 2015 but has now restructured the deal two years in a row to create cap space for the team.
- In 2014, Smith had a career-year, earning an 85.2 overall grade and ranking 10th among cornerbacks. The following year his play fell off dramatically as he ranked 73rd among cornerbacks while earning a 44.8 overall grade. In 2016 his play bounced back moderately earning an overall grade of 75.8 and ranked 39th among 110 qualifying corner backs.
- Smith was solid in coverage this past season ranking in the top 20 in both catch rate allowed at 54.1 percent (18th) and in yards per cover snap allowed at 0.92 (19th).
