- As reported by Ian Rappaport of NFL Network, the Pittsburgh Steelers have traded wide receiver Sammie Coates to the Cleveland Browns for a 2018 sixth-round pick, the same pick the Steelers traded the Browns to get Justin Gilbert in 2016.
- Coates led the league in deep receptions (7) and deep receiving yards (321) with only two drops on nine catchable passes before injuring his finger in Week 5. After the injury, Coates dropped the only catchable deep pass thrown his way while playing 19.1 percent of the snaps from Week 6 on.
- The former third-round pick’s 62.9 passer rating when targeted was the lowest among any Steelers wide receiver to catch a pass last season.
