Final Score
Los Angeles Rams 22, Houston Texans 10
Los Angeles Rams
The former AAF star John Wolford made a few beautiful throws in this game, two of which went for touchdowns. He also limited mistakes, for the most part, rounding out an overall solid performance against Houston.
Wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge continued to make plays in the passing game, routinely getting open and putting up big gains. He caps off yet another strong preseason for the Rams.
Edge defender Ogbonnia Okoronkwo was a force off the edge in this game. He created problems for both tackles in the passing game and disrupted multiple plays.
Ketner Kupp playing inside linebacker was in on quite a few plays, both against the run and pass. His best play came on an INT at the end of the first half that eventually got called back.
Rookie Takeaways
Rookie safety Jake Gervase picked up two pass breakups in limited action, earning himself a strong overall grade in the process. Washington product Greg Gaines continued to impress against the run.
Houston Texans
Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 320 pounds, Walter Palmore was a load to handle for the Rams' interior offensive linemen. Palmore repeatedly stood up or drove back his blockers and wreaked havoc inside.
The Texans' defense as a whole made a few mental mistakes, which led to big plays for the Rams, including biting hard on play-action and taking bad pursuit angles.
Maurice Shakir played the majority of the snaps at center and struggled mightily in the run game, as he was often pushed back or beaten at the line of scrimmage.
Quarterback Joe Webb executed simple plays in Thursday's game. He made some plays with his legs when he absolutely needed to. However, his accuracy was up and down, and one of his misses had a chance at being a big play but was instead intercepted due to poor ball placement.
Rookie Takeaways
Undrafted rookie Walter Palmore, as previously mentioned, was a force in the run game. Running back Damarea Crockett didn't wow anyone with his seven carries and struggled a bit in pass protection.
