Final Score
Cleveland Browns 20, Detroit Lions 16
Cleveland Browns
Garrett Gilbert looked sharp during the first half. He was poised in the pocket and delivered accurate passes tonight. He was able to lead the offense on a nice two-minute drive to end the first half with a touchdown.
The Browns' defensive line completely dominated this game from start to finish, with Devaroe Lawrence leading the charge. Lawrence could have had three sacks within the first five minutes and drew several holding calls.
Rookie Takeaways
Could Mack Wilson be one of the steals of the draft? He Consistently beat blockers to the point of attack or shed them with power and violence.
Detroit Lions
Yes, it's the fourth and final preseason game, but none of the Lions' backup offensive linemen looked ready to contribute to an NFL roster. Matthew Stafford will hope that none of his starters get hurt because the pocket was open for business all night.
The Lions' secondary had a shaky night, but Johnathan Alston held his own. He was tested several times during the game and kept coming up with plays. Alston ended the contest with an interception and added a few more pass breakups.
Rookie Takeaways
Travis Fulgham had a productive night at wide receiver. He caught all three of his targets for 80 yards and 62 yards after the catch, moving the chains on all three receptions.
