Final Score

New England Patriots 31, Detroit Lions 3

New England Patriots

Rookie edge defender Chase Winovich lived in the Lions' backfield all night, racking up multiple pressures in the contest.

Rookie wideout Jakobi Meyers caught two impressive touchdowns and finished the game as the team's leader in targets. It simply felt like he was open all night.

Detroit Lions

With their playmakers resting, it was a tough night for the Lions' offense to get going. However, undrafted rookie wide receiver Tom Kennedy had an excellent catch-and-run, forcing penalties on two different defenders on the play.

Lions defensive interior Kevin Strong Jr. was a lone bright spot for Detriot's defense. He was a force as a run defender and racked up multiple tackles, including one tackle for loss.

New England Patriots

Pats center James Ferentz struggled to find his footing in the run game, allowing multiple tackles and failing to open holes for his running backs for much of the contest.

There weren't many negatives for the Patriots' defense Thursday night, but second-year corner Duke Dawson Jr. allowed two catches, with one catch still being made after he got away with a defensive holding penalty.

Detroit Lions

Cornerback Mike Ford struggled to shut down the Pats' receivers all game long. He was targeted a lot throughout the contest, allowing a touchdown and multiple catches in the process. He seemingly had no answer for the Patriots' passing game.

Second-year tackle Tyrell Crosby had a rough night in pass protection. He was responsible for multiple sacks and picked up a false start penalty on the night.
