Newton tops all QB grades in Week 5

  • Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton turned in a strong performance in his team’s 27-24 victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Newton was the highest-graded quarterback in the league in Week 5 with an overall grade of 88.2.
  • For a majority of the time on Sunday, Newton was kept clean. He was only pressured on seven out of 31 dropbacks, and he excelled, posting a passer rating of 146.0, which could have been even better if it weren’t for two drops by his teammates.
  • On play action passes Newton recorded a perfect quarterback rating of 158.3, with four completions on five attempts, including a touchdown.
