- According to the Chicago Tribune’s Rich Campbell, the Chicago Bears plan on starting Mike Glennon at quarterback for the entire 2017 season. This offseason, the Bears double downed in order to improve their quarterback situation by signing Mike Glennon to a three-year, $45 million dollar contract as well as moving up to take Mitch Trubisky with the second pick in the draft.
- Glennon’s last stretch of significant playing time ended Week 9 of the 2014 season. That year Glennon played 377 offensive snaps and graded as the 22nd best quarterback (76.1). The year prior, Glennon started 13 games playing 864 snaps and earning a 72.1 overall grade which ranked 27th among qualifying quarterbacks.
- During Glennon’s 2013 season, he was much better when kept clean than when under pressure. His passer rating of 101.0 when kept clean ranked ninth among 27 qualifying QBs while his passer rating of 55.6 while under pressure ranked 20th.
- Trubisky lacks significant experience as a one-year starter in college. Despite his limited experience, he earned the third highest grade among quarterbacks drafted in 2017 (86.0).
