Mariota plans to play at 215 pounds in 2017

  • Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota plans to cut weight and play at 215 pounds this season, according to his personal trainer, Ryan Flaherty.
  • Mariota has yet to play a full season in his two-year career. Last season, he fractured his right fibula in Week 16, ending his season early. In 2015, he suffered multiple knee injuries that forced him to miss four games.
  • Mariota took advantage of play action last season. He utilized play action to throw for nine touchdowns in 2016, the third-most by any quarterback in the NFL.
  • Last season, Mariota excelled with a clean pocket. His passer rating of 103.3 ranked 13th in 2016 and was the fifth-highest in the AFC, with 19 touchdowns against seven interceptions.
