- Nick Underhill of TheAdvocate.com believes that Manti Te'o will most likely be the starting middle linebacker for the New Orleans Saints this season. The Saints signed Te'o as a free agent this offseason, and he's expected to play in the Saints base defense and then be subbed out in passing situations.
- Te'o only played 142 snaps in 2016 before suffering a season ending Achilles injury. After posting a career high PFF grade of 76.8 in 2014 (26th of 66 linebackers), his grade fell to 34.2 in 2015 (86th of 90 linebackers).
- This week against his former team the Chargers, Te'o was the highest graded player on the Saints with an 84.6 grade. He was third in run stop percentage (percentage of stops per snap played only in run defense) this week among linebackers with 15 or more run snaps at 17.6 percent.
