Jaguars bolster strong defense, trade for DI Dareus

  • Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Friday that Buffalo Bills interior defender Marcell Dareus has been traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Bills will receive a 2018 sixth-round pick that could become a fifth-rounder based on his performance.
  • Dareus is currently PFF's 37th-ranked interior defender with an 80.0 overall grade. He has three stops in 54 snaps against the run this year, and ranks 82nd of 121 interior defenders in run stop percentage. He has one sack and three total pressures in 79 pass rush snaps.
  • In three of his first four seasons in the NFL, Dareus graded in the top 10 among interior defenders. In 2014 he had the highest run-defense grade of any interior defender at 89.3. He will be asked to be a run stuffer in the Jaguars defensive tackle rotation that includes Malik Jackson and Abry Jones.
