- Adam Schefter is reporting that Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins is expected to report to training camp on time this year. Hopkins staged a one-day holdout at the beginning of training camp last year due to the lack of contract talks, but Texans general manager Rick Smith said in March the team is “intent” on offering Hopkins an extension.
- Hopkins had a slight dip in performance in 2016, grading as the 26th-best receiver with an overall PFF grade of 81.2. This was following the 2015 season, where Hopkins ranked as the fourth-best receiver and graded at an elite level with an overall PFF grade of 91.9.
- In the 2015 season, Hopkins was especially dangerous on deep passes (passes targeted 20 or more yards downfield). He ranked second with 17 receptions and seven touchdowns on such passes and his 492 receiving yards were the fifth-most that season.
