Hill expected to continue having role in Bengals offense

Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official website still expects running back Jeremy Hill to be a factor in the Cincinnati Bengals offense in 2017. With Giovani Bernard coming off ACL surgery, and second-round pick Joe Mixon still finding his feet, Hobson said, “Hill figures to always be a presence inside the 5.”
Hill was the leader in the Bengals backfield this season, and accounted for 56.5 percent of the Bengals rushing attempts. He finished the season with an overall grade of 68.8, ranking 33rd of 68 qualifying running backs. His breakaway percentage (the percentage of yards that come on runs of 15 or more yards) of 28.6 percent ranked 12th of 25 backs with at least 165 rushing attempts.
In 2016, Hill averaged 3.8 yards per carry and 2.46 yards after contact per attempt, bettering Bernard’s averages of 3.7 and 2.33, respectively.
Hill was given the ball on 16 of the Bengals’ 24 carries inside the opponent’s 5-yard line, and found the end zone on six of those attempts. His touchdown percentage of 37.5 percent ranked seventh of 10 backs with at least 15 rushing attempts while inside the opponent’s 5-yard line.
