HB Buck Allen has been the Ravens’ most effective back

  • Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun believes that the Baltimore Ravens’ third-year RB Buck Allen has been their “most effective back”. Allen played limited snaps in 2016 due to the Ravens’ depth at running back. In the preseason however, Allen has shown glimpses of the success he had in his rookie year.
  • In his 2015 rookie season, Allen split carries with starter Justin Forsett, and was expected to become a prominent figure in the Ravens’ running game moving forward despite an overall grade of just 56.1 (56th). In 2016, Allen had just 41 snaps and nine rushing attempts.
  • While Allen is surely a lock to make the 53-man roster, he is still competing to earn snaps alongside Terrance West, especially with Kenneth Dixon out for the season. Allen has been involved in both the rushing and the passing game this preseason, notching the 14th highest yards per route run among running backs this preseason (1.69). As for the running game, Allen leads the Ravens in yards after contact per attempt (2.2) through two weeks.
