Amid the jolt of excitement that comes with adding players like Odell Beckham Jr. and Olivier Vernon, the Cleveland Browns are also facing a harsh dose of reality: While the team employs many of the NFL’s most recognizable budding young stars, question marks still remain.
One of those uncertainties is the secondary, albeit a lot less uncertain than a plethora of other NFL squads. There’s cornerbacks Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams, safeties Damarious Randall and Morgan Burnett and a bevy of other pieces — a solid foundation for success, but a group that will need to jell quickly if the Browns want to make sure the “Super Bowl contender” flame isn’t extinguished after just a few weeks.
