- Even though the Seattle Seahawks lost to the Washington Redskins on Sunday, edge defender Dwight Freeney’s performance in his second outing with the team could assure them that it was well worth signing the veteran pass-rusher.
- Freeney had a dominant day as he picked up six total pressures – two sacks, one hit and three quarterback hurries – on just 23 pass-rushing snaps while he also batted down a pass. As a result, the former Indianapolis Colt had a pass-rushing productivity rating of 21.7, which is the highest among 4-3 defensive ends with more than 15 pass rushing snaps in Week 9.
- In last year’s playoffs, Freeney showed that he still has plenty left in the tank as he racked up 17 total pressures in three games – including one sack and seven quarterback hurries in the Super Bowl for the Atlanta Falcons. He now recorded eight total pressures in his first two games of the 2017 season and ranks second among 4-3 defensive ends in pass rushing productivity over the past two weeks.
