- Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter said via ESPN that rookie wide receiver “Chris [Godwin] reminds me a little bit of Roddy White. He’s similar size, a big guy that competes for the ball.” The third-round pick has made a good impression so far, also receiving praise for his performance during OTAs.
- In his last year at Penn State, Godwin ranked tied for 13th in the nation with 14 receptions on deep passes, and his 504 deep receiving yards were the most among receivers in the Big Ten. Roddy White had his best season in terms of deep passing in 2008, when he finished with 14 deep receptions (second most in the NFL) and 478 yards (fourth most) during the regular season.
- In 2016, Godwin’s size and consistency helped him to earn a run blocking grade of 72.9 (19th in the nations for wide receivers). White displayed similar ability at the pro level, earning a career best run blocking grade of 78.5 in 2013, ranking eighth among NFL receivers.
- Godwin had a passer rating of 135.1 when targeted (seventh among qualified Power 5 wide receivers) last year, and White had a wide receiver rating of 106.6 in 2010, ranked ninth out of 42 qualified receivers.
