- Chiefs star inside linebacker Derrick Johnson expects to be ready for training camp, according to chiefs.com.
- Before rupturing his Achilles for the second time in three years last year, Johnson was having his lowest-graded (full) season since 2009, his first season as an inside linebacker in the 3-4 defense.
- Alongside Johnson, as well as in his absence, second-year linebacker Ramik Wilson had a great season a year ago, generating 35 stops in 591 overall snaps while missing just seven tackles and allowing only an 81.9 passer rating into his coverage.
- With Kansas City playing roughly 45 percent of their snaps in dime defense (with only one inside linebacker), look for them to ease Johnson a bit in 2017, at least early, and lean on the improving Wilson in the middle of their defense.
