- According to ESPN staff writer John Keim, Washington Redskins safety DeAngelo Hall will open training camp on the physically unable to perform list. Hall is recovering from the ACL tear that ended his 2016 season in Week 3, and could potentially miss up to six weeks of the 2017 season. Hall will likely return to a backup role behind D.J. Swearinger and Will Blackmon.
- Hall made the switch from cornerback to safety in 2015, but over the past two years has played just 443 snaps, accumulating one pass breakup, but also surrendering two touchdowns in primary coverage.
- Hall struggled to find his feet at safety. In 2015, he allowed a passer rating of 122.1 on throws into his primary coverage and a passer rating of 113.7 in his limited playing time in 2016.
- In his limited snaps at safety he has notched overall PFF grades of 60.3 and 55.7 respectively, which is an improvement on his final season playing cornerback (38.5).
