  • Dallas Cowboys second year LB Jaylon Smith told Tom Pelissero that he is “ready to play some football”. Smith missed his entire rookie season after tearing his ACL and MCL in his final college game, a bowl game versus Ohio State.
  • Smith was a lock to go in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft but due to his injuries, he fell to the second round where the Cowboys took him with the 34th overall pick.
  • His overall PFF grade of 88.3 in the 2015 college season was the third highest grade out of the 197 qualifying 4-3 outside linebackers.
  • Smith ranked sixth among 68 draft eligible 4-3 outside linebackers in 2015 with a pass rush productivity (PRP) of 19.2, creating 11 total pressures on just 43 pass rush snaps (PRP measures pressure created on a per snap basis with weighting towards sacks).
  • Smith’s 36 total stops was tied for sixth in 2015 among 66 draft eligible 4-3 outside linebackers, his run stop percentage of 9.5 tied for 12th, as he collected those 36 stops on only 380 run snaps (a stop is anything which constitutes a loss for the offense).
