- According to Jon Machota via twitter, Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones is “confident” that guard Zack Martin will get an extension. Dallas excised the fifth-year option on Martin’s rookie contract in the offseason, but they hope to sign him to a new contract before the end of training camp.
- Currently the three highest-paid right guards in the NFL are Cleveland Browns’ Kevin Zeitler, Chicago Bears’ Kyle Long and Detroit Lions’ T.J. Lang. Zack Martin graded higher than all three of those guards last season, being ranked as the second best guard with a PFF overall grade of 88.6.
- Martin also compares favorably to these three in pass blocking efficiency (PBE). Martin ranked fifth with a PBE of 97.7 last season, T.J. Lang was the only one of the three to have a higher PBE (PBE measures pressure allowed on a per snap basis with weighting towards sacks).
