- According to ESPN’s John Keim, a long-term deal between the Washington Redskins and quarterback Kirk Cousins, “remains a long shot,” but notes that, “it doesn’t mean it won’t happen.” The two sides have until Monday 18th July to work out a deal.
- Kirk Cousins has been the starter in Washington for two seasons, in which he earned overall grades of 83.1 and 85.9, ranking 13th and eighth in the league, respectively. He has proven to be one of the most accurate passers in the league, and in 2015, he ranked second in the league with an adjusted completion percentage of 78.5 percent. In 2016, he finished eighth with 76.3 percent.
- Cousins has improved his both his overall grade and his passing grade every year since the 2013 season. A further improvement in the 2017 season would put him among the league’s top five quarterbacks.
